Gotta cut loose, Footloose!

In 1984 a movie called "Footloose" came out with Kevin Bacon. I was around 7 years old at the time. For some reason my mom thought this show was ok for a child to see. Little did she know that this show would be a huge party of who I am. The tape (Soundtrack) came out and I got it. I spent many hours dancing up and down our dirt driveway with my tape player on my shoulder, to "Footloose." I made my babysitter watch me over and over dance and then judge me on my talent. I love music and I love to dance and this movie is the reason why.

Now in 2011 the remake has come out. I have not seen this movie yet and do not know when I will go. I am torn to go or not to go? It is getting good reviews which surprised me. I was afraid it was going to be bad and would hurt my feelings and memories to the original movie. Then my sister called tonight and said she just went to the new movie and loved it. She feels it was better than the first. She loved Willard and Ren. Really? Can anyone be better than Kevin Bacon?

Who to see it with? Girlfriends? Trevor? The eye candy of Julianne Hough has to be better than Lori Singer, but can anyone be better at Rusty than Sarah Jessica Parker?

I know I must go and get these butterfly feelings out of my stomach. I will keep you posted.

I wished too hard!

Daycare opened yesterday, so excited! Went to work, couldn't wait to get back again today. Well guess who woke up with pink eye(stink eye as we call it in our house)? Yep, Ben! No daycare today! But I WILL go to work this afternoon while he naps. So mad I have an all day training tomorrow and can't work in my room. Ok--boring blog post! All my wishing for daycare to open bit my me it the butt!

Coming to an End!

Daycare opens tomorrow! This is great for Ben, ok and me too. Back to routines and schedules. I function best on knowing what my day will be like. Ben is ready to go play with his friends and be back to things on a schedule. Ella is ready for 1st grade and so excited to see her friends. Mom is very ready to go back to work. I am not looking forward to the next two weeks of trying to get ready. I need more time in my room and hope I can get it the next 14 days (I doubt it!). Summer I look forward to by about March during the year and never thought I'd count down until school starts. I am hoping as the kids get older this won't be the case.

Why I have to work:

1. Money--I like to get paid.
2. I like adult interaction.
3. No patience for my own kids, sad to say, but summer can be long.
4. Would spend too much money beingat home,with all the field trips we would take to stay sane.
5. I am not creative to do projects at home my kids.
6. My house would be a disaster 24 hours per day.
7. I would nap everyday.
8. I like working 9 months and having 3 off.
9. I like the challenge my students give me.
10. I am not aloud to be a stay at home mom with my kids in daycare or at school!

I decided to start a "Bucket List." It has a lot of places I'd like to go. I like to travel and we do not do it enough. I hope many of these wishes come true someday.

I think I want to start a "bucket list." Do you have one? Any suggestions?

Taking Pride!

Today I had a conversation with a wise person. We talked about taking pride in things you own or do. Here is a list of things I see pride in. (Very Random thoughts!)

1. Our yard, my husband takes great pride in our yard (it is amazing by the way)
2. My flowers, I try to keep them alive all summer and pick off the dead ones.
3. Our kids, we take pride in our kids and hope we are doing a good job of raising them and teaching them to be treat people.
4. Our jobs! I take pride in being a good teacher. I know I am not always but do love what I do. I know my husband gives 100% to his job and his coaching.
5. My parent's yard and garage. My dad works very hard even on one bad leg to make sure his yard and garage are spotless.
6. Laundry--this might be dumb, but I always stay on top of it. I hate having a basket full.
7. Our home. It may not be huge or full of big things but it's our's. We bought it, we finished it, we like it!
8. Pride in your school! I had such pride growing up at my school. Maybe cause I was a cheerleader (raw raw!). Then I moved to. St. Cloud and began taking pride in Tech. Things change and I still like Tech but don't bleed orange and black. I do however love South and take pride in that school. It will be a hard year coming up for many of us with changes happening.

I do not take pride in my ability to cook, clean, read books, iron, or save money.

11 Years: Where does the time go?

Trevor and I will be married 11 years tomorrow, July 1st, 2011. In the last 11 years here are a few things that we have accomplished, purchased, did, had, etc.

1. We both graduated from College
2. Both got jobs in St. Cloud
3. We have owned 2 different homes
4. We have owned 6 different vehicles (a lot, I know!)
5. We have been blessed with 2 beautiful children
6. We both got our master's.
7. We have bought things for our home, added desks, etc.
8. Took a trip to Mexico
9. Took a trip to NYC!
10. Took a trip to FL.
11. Took a trip to Reno area twice!
12. Went to Canada
13. Went to WI Dells three times
(we've been on trips with out one another but I won't add those!)
14. Added many pounds on together!
15. Trevor has lost many of those pounds!! (I'm still working on it!)
16. Went to WI for my sister's wedding

It doesn't seem like a whole lot that we have done in eleven years, but it sure goes by fast!! I suppose I could have added the 7 years of dating before that and everything we did together then too.

Good Point By Andrea!

Andrea talked about her family's recent trip and what she is doing to entertain her 22 month old in the car. She invested in a DVD player--SMART!
What did we do way back when on trips in the summer to entertain us? On our family trip to Banf Canada back in...Lord who knows when? I had a Walk-Man that I played NKOTB and Poison on. I had maybe a Bop or Teen Beat to look at. I talked to my mom and Harvey, as my 3 sisters slept, read, listened to Walk-Mans in the backseat. It must have been painful, but can't really remember.
Now on a 2 hour drive to the lake, we have to pack snacks, sippies, toys, bears, blankets, DVDs for the wireless headset, Van DVD player in the ceiling, and still can't manage to entertain a 6 and 2 year old. For me, I now have PEOPLE magazine, snacks of my own, my plastic, insulated, straw cup, full of ice tea, and my IPHONE to occupy my trip.

What did you have or do on your long, summer, family vacation?

(Sorry for grammar errors and run on sentences. I am not a writer and therefore do not write on m Blog often.)

The family picture is a trip to Mexico in 1995. I did not have a Banf picture on my computer. We obviously didn't drive to Mexico but flight can be just as draining on a family and kids, as taking them in a van.

Year in Review

1.What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Went to Florida, saw a Twin’s Spring training game, went to NYC, and saw Bret Michaels in Concert.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I guess not because I don’t know what it was. I have one I hope to accomplish.

My cousin Sarah and a co-worker.

No countries…only the 2 new states.
